Delhi Schools May Shut ForCity OddEvenvehicle Plan from 01 to 15.01.2016. Delhi government is considering shutting of schools in Delhi city for fifteen days during the trial period of City OddEvenvehicle Plan. Delhi education minister and deputy chief minister Sri. Manish Sisodia said that Delhi Government has received a proposal to close schools from 01.01.2016 to 15.01.2016 and if needed, Government will announce holidaysto allow cars with odd and even numbers on alternate days to curb dangerous levels of air pollution in Delhi. But he said that they will take decisions after consulting schools.
Deputy chief minister said that children are most affected due to high pollution and government planning to make a policy of odd-even formula with their involvement.Among the measures to augment alternate transport during the two weeks is a plan to rope in 6,000 private buses to ferry as public buses in the city.Since about 2,000 of them will be school buses for around 26 lakh children in Delhi, a call has been made to close the schools during the period.
Chief Minister ArvindKejriwal had on 10.12.2015 held a highlevel meeting with all his cabinet ministers, concerned departments to make a strategy for implementing the oddeven Vehicle scheme.
Delhi OddEvenvehicle Plan:
The Delhi Government’s odd even Vehicle plan formula First Phase will be implemented from 01.01.2016 to 05.01.2016and will follow dates. By Implementing Delhi OddEvenvehicle Plan, the odd-numbered vehicles will ply on odd dates, while the even-numbered vehicles would ply on even dates. The rule will be enforced from 8am to 8pm only and there will be no restrictions on Sundays.
