Simhachalam Chandanotsavam  2020

Simhachalam Chandanotsavam 2020 will be held on 26th April  2020. Chandanotsavam of Sri Varaha Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple at Simhachalam will be performed on 26th April 2020 by temple priests. In this year 2020, due to covid-19 lock down period, devotees are not allowed to participate in this special festival.

Simhachalam Chandanotsavam

Sri Varaha Lakshmi Nrusimha Swamy temple, Simhachalam is on famous temple for Lord Vishunu, located 19 Km away from Visakhapatanam. The specificity of the temple is on Chandanotsavam day, only on this day swamy gives darshan without chandanam layer on his body i.e., Nijaroopa Darshanam every year. After Chandanotsavam day, again deity will be covered with sandal. Chandanotsavam would be held at morning 2 am and darshan will start from the early hours beginning 3.30 am.

Chandanotsavam is one day swamy nijaroopa darshanam festival of Sri Varaha Lakshmi Nrusimha Swamy, held on every year Akshaya Tritiya in Vaisaka month. Simhachalam Chandanotsavam tickets are available from at all  bank branches and counters at temple premises.

Simhachalam Chandanotsavam 2019  is festival is observed on dated on 07.05.2019 and in last year on 18^h April 2018.  before last year, in 2017, The simhachalam chandanotsavam held on 29.04.2017 Saturday.

Devotees from various states Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Orissa, visit temple on Chandanotsavam day. various category passes like Employees, VIP, VVIP, donor and general passes/tickets  will be issued by temple authorities. Special buses will be run from city to simhachalm hill top and devasthanam free buses also run from simhachalam to hill top temple.

The making of sandalwood paste by grinding the wood on slabs started by temple priests on April 16. Keeping COVID-19 lock down period instructions and mainly to reduce the number of persons at the ritual, this year, Simhachalam Chandanotsavam 2020 will be performed by temple priests and staff. To avoid crowds, this year, devotees are not allowed for the Chandanotsavam 2020.
